Nicolette Piano has been the Clinical Director for Speech and Language Services at AZA United since 2012. Prior to joining AZA United, she was the owner and director of Arizona Pediatric Autism Consultants (APAC), a private practice specializing in language intervention, augmentative communication, oral motor/ apraxia, and facilitating social interactions. She studied Speech and Hearing Science and has a Masters of Science in Clinical Speech Pathology. She is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She specializes in working with children with autism and their families and has experience working in medical, educational, clinical and home-based settings. Says Nicolette, “My interest in the field started with my work as a habilitation provider. My passion for this population grew instantly when it became apparent how capable these kids are of learning. I then became motivated to learn the best ways to teach them! I incorporate principles of applied behavior analysis into speech and parent training sessions in order to teach new skills or reduce challenging behaviors. I continue to find great passion in working directly with children as well as coaching their families to incorporate intervention throughout naturally occurring opportunities. I enjoy working collaboratively with the talented staff at AZA United and look forward to continuing to offer resources to our clients in their homes, schools, and communities.”
